I was trying to prove to myself on this song that I can still write a metal song. I think the mission was largely a success. The overall sound quickly settled on 'sort of like Rob Zombie' and then I realised it also sounded like the stuff Sonic Mayhem did for the Quake 2 soundtrack. Yes, you should Google that, right now.

Unusually, I had a kind of plan for what I wanted to do with this before embarking on trying to record it.

It was hard work writing the lyrics for this. It's mostly about my experience of working at the shittest job ever.

Ears open mouth closed,
Nodding along eyes glazing over,
Only saying what I am supposed.
There is nothing behind the smile,
Only ever filling in the blanks,
Making sure to tick every box,
Then take my place and join the ranks.

Never respected,

Never get off the ground.

Use you up and throw you away,
The straw man has a happy face,
Had no chances will never learn,
He knows his job and knows his place.

It continues anger grows,
Turn your back and the daggers are out,
Second guessing all of my mistakes,
Cannot live when they fill you with doubt.
Always wishing away the hours,
Don't ever think just carry on,
Barely able to care at all,
Counting down until I'm gone.
